Ray Rice Did What? This could get ugly…

Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice and his fiancé were involved in an altercation at the Revel Casino in Atlantic City, NJ late Saturday night.

The Baltimore Sun broke the story on Sunday. Rice’s lawyer, Andrew Alperstein, called the incident a “very minor physical altercation”.

Rice was released on his own recognizance.

Michael Diamondstein, a philly-based attorney hired to represent Rice, believes Rice will be charged with simple assault, but they are waiting to see the charging fiancé documents.

The Ravens released a statement about the incident:

“We are aware of the Friday night situation with Ray Rice and his fiancé. We have spoken with Ray, and know that they returned home together after being detained.”

Rice is coming off a disappointing season with a less than stellar performance with 660 rushing yards and four touchdowns.

In 2012 he signed a five-year, $35 million deal. Rice has been active in the community including starting an anti-bullying campaign.

While it is easy to jump to conclusions about the incident, I am going to wait for the facts to be released before I form an opinion.

The only thing I can say for sure is that it is never ok to hit a woman and I’m disappointed in Rice, but I will wait for the facts to come out before I speak my mind.

Rice is one of the most popular Ravens and it is hard to believe he would do such a thing, but our sports heroes aren’t perfect and sometimes they disappoint us.

The incident puts an ugly mark on Rice’s career with the Ravens and his career in Baltimore may be in jeopardy. The truth always comes out, for now it is wait and see…
